That's good to know Dave, may have some "side" bizness to discuss after Carlisle.

tiny1 06-27-2008 09:28 PM

Doug let me see if I figured it out.... the two Hahn's are the first out engines, 48-3 ? is a Pierce Rescue/Engine, 48-5 is your Engine Tanker and the others are self explanatory.

Good try Neil. 48-1 is Rescue/Pumper w/1,500 & 1,500, followed by 48-5, 3000gal w/1800 pump. The two Hahns are 2nd or 3rd running pieces depending on location. MVC,s 48-1 and 48-3. Tanker assist 48-5 and 48-2.

Well at least I was some what close... LOL. In our county we do not use our department designation as part of our vehicle numbers. All pumpers (engines) are designated as E-# (the number can range from 1-99 with no duplicates) Tankers are TA-; BR- for brush trucks, R- for Rescues as long as they carry extrication equipment if not they are designated as M- for miscellaneous. T- is a ladder truck, AP- is aerial platform and last but not least WR- which is for water rescue boats. Oh I forgot, we have two departments that have the old Larks that they use for water rescue/fire operations and they are designated as DK-. Now there are a few odd ball vehicles that are desinated as Attack.

Our compliment is a '98 KME/International E-5 which is second out for structure fires/first out for MVA's which is a 1250 pump/1000 water. E-70 is a '92 New Lexington/International pumper/tanker, 1500 pump/1500 water and it has a 10" quick dump. Last but not least, R-50 which is a mid 80's Gruman/Chevy which runs for EMS and support for all calls. I am looking at quick attacks for our next purchase. We use to have a tanker that carried 1400 water and had a 500 PTO pump. We sold that and did not replace it because two of our mutual aid depts. have 3500 and 3800 gallon tankers. We also are about 50% hydrants where our residental areas are.

Sorry for the long post.

There is a number designation for engines tanker and rescues. I do not know the complete designations but I think brush units are 0's, rescues are 1's, engines are 2-4, tankers are 5's. The other designations I am not sure of.
