Wheel bearings shockers front/rear f350
 

Hi i have nearly finished the brakes on my 1955 fordf350 camper,well does any one sell front and rear wheel bearings,Also does anyone sell front and rear shockabsorbers.Thanks Pete

Pete, I just did this on my '56 a month or so ago.

The Inner Bearing is a Federal Mogul, part number 2788
The Outer Bearing is a Federal Mogul, part number 1380
The Outer Race is a Federal Mogul, part number 1328

I'll have to check my other receipts for the inner race and the grease seal, as I had to purchase them separately. I got the three I listed from Oreillys. Napa and Advance Auto both claim to be able to get the inner race and seal, but neither of them did. I wound up having to order them from a specialty bearing place.

I also put front shocks on mine, I'll find that receipt also. The shocks I went with are about 1 1/2 longer and require a bit of finagaling to install, but they do seem to work and are the closest that I could find to the original size that I took off.

The Inner Race is Federal Mogul # 2726 (Ford: 8J1202B)

The Front Seal is Chicago Rawhide # 18843 (Ford: 8J1190)

Unfortunately, I can't find my receipt for the shocks. I'll go out in the daylight and see if I can read any numbers off of them. My truck only has front shocks, nothing but springs on the rear.

The front shocks are: 7RC18124A or B5C18124A or A8TZ18124A (Motorcraft AX41A)

The rear shocks are: B3Y18125A or A8TZ18125A (Motorcraft AB20 or AW8)

Well, here I am in the same situation with shocks. The ones I have are roughly an inch too long, and they bottom out and stick. Tried removing them tonight, and one of the studs broke off the shock.

I tried all the listed part numbers for the front shocks with my parts places, none of them cross reference. Deenis Carpenter told me over the phone that they do not have shocks for the 350, and the shock selector on the Monroe website only goes back to '61. The image/ part number it shows for a '61 F-350 has eyes on the shock to mount instead of studs, so those won't work.
I don't know where the old shocks went to measure them. Could someone perhaps measure one for me?

Just like the SuperNats, my truck decided to get upset the night before we're supposed to leave. Oh well. I'm still planning to go, broken shock or not. :-jammin

Hi i have measured mine today and they are 15 1/2 inc from the centre of the bottom hole to the top hole.My studs are on the truck not the shocker.You do mean the front shocks dont you.Thanks Pete

Pete, I appreciate you measuring for me. Unfortunately, my truck has the studs on the shock, so it sounds like we've got two different setups. Thanks though!

If the shocks have studs on both ends you might consider looking at some Mopar rear shocks. I am using an 87 Chrysler 5th Avenue rear end under my truck with stock Chrysler shocks. :)

The 1948/56 Ford Truck Parts Catalog sez on page 760.

1956 C (F100) / D (F250) / Y (F350): B6C-18124-A .. Front Shock. (B6C-18124-A replaced B6D-18124-A)

These are what was commonly known once as the "airplane" type shock with eyelets on both ends: O----O

Dennis Carpenters catalog (I picked one up at the SuperNats in TN), shows these same B6C shocks on page 74.

On his NOS obsolete parts site (NOT the repro site) he shows Genuine Ford B6C-18124-A shocks.

B6C-18124-A: This is not the same shock as 1953/55's or 1948/52's use.

In the 1970's, Ford replaced B6C-18124-A with Motorcraft part number AW-4.

If your shocks have a stud on both ends, your truck was prolly a special order.

According to the illustrations in the 1957/63 & 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalogs, the 1961/66 F350 front shocks have a single stud on each end. NOT eyelets!

The original part number was C1TZ-18124-J for Xtra Duty shocks, the latest Ford part number I can find for these shocks is Motorcraft AX-72-A

EDIT: I found 14 of these AX-72-A original (and obsolete) Ford front shocks at Don Sanderson Ford in Glendale AZ.

This is the only Ford dealer in the US that has any.
