Going to the UP this weekend. Anybody need anything? LOL. I heard it was still chilly up there, going up by Houghton. Toyman

I was through there last week.....still snow on the ground in some spots in the woods

Toyman 06-05-2008 08:08 AM

I had heard that from my buddie up there. He was saying that it had snowed last Monday and Tuesday, of course no accumulation, but still.

What ever happened to that sign , it once said, End of the earth 15 miles, Houghton, 20

Why in the heck would they have taken that down. Up at Michigan Tech they still sell the Post cards, but the sign went bye bye.

Talyn 06-07-2008 09:07 AM

I have one of the cards and a picture.

Yea. People think up north is northern lower michigan.
FOOLs!

Up north doesn't start until you cross the Mighty Mac and enter God's Country:-drink

Cant agree more....cross the bridge and its like you get in a completely different state of mind.I go to Drummond a few times a year for a weekend.
And I cut through Marquette on my way back from ND almost monthly.........cross the bridge coming back and its like...."Home crap Home"(even though I love it where I live...but I grew up in Detroit,so anything is better than that)

Just made it back! I did go to the end of the world also, found out that it is only about 5 miles from Copper Harbor.

What a great trip until I had to drive through a friggin tornado HigginsLake and the Clare rest area.

Got real bad here last night, you must have got the calm before the storm.....I live about 10 miles from that rest area.....the wife was just about ready to climb in the pump room under the house last night.

Must have weathered it ok. You have power and internet still. We had no internet at work (St Johns), I guess the wireless repeater blew off the tower it was on. Glad I don't have that here.

Anyway, hope everybody made it through ok up there.

Going down Mt hope rd from M100 east looks like a war zone with all the trees down and a barn gone.

Straight line winds HA!
