I was thinking about trying some comercial bio diesel that is sold here. I can buy B100 for what is about 15 t o 20 cents per gallon cheaper then dino. Unless i have been given wrong price. My question is there a mpg difference with bio versus dino oil? Im looking at the cost. I dont mind the bio thing but i dont want to pay extra just to try it. Thanks joe

I don't know what the difference would be on the 7.3 but on my 6.0 I get 14.5 mpg average running on B100. Running with straight dino diesel I was getting 16.5. So for me it was a 2 mpg drop. Those are unloaded numbers. When towing I get around 13 mpg with B100 and 14.5 with dino diesel. Most of my towing is on two lane country roads. Every engine will react different. Some see no difference at all.

i have never had a difference + or - that i could tell in any of my diesels. bio has a little less energy than diesel does but it does have a higher cetane. i would run it for sure, and if its cheaper thats just a plus. better for the earth, politics, and truck IMO!

Thanks i think i will give it a try on t he next fill up. It seems that the bio price had been higher here untill just recently, now the dino has passed it up! Been wanting to try to make some of my own and i have been abit scared to try. Also, with out alot of looking it seems that all the used cooking oil around here is locked up with some rendering company. Thanks Joe

Be aware that B100 acts as a super detergent in a system that has run dino
fuel. Possible filter plugging results as the system self cleans.

I have been running B100 BioWillie and not a real boost in MPG but my truck sure runs nice.
