79 f150 4x4 351w shortbed w/ dual front shocks

Hello.. i was wondering about the truck i just bought.. i bought it as a parts truck for my 77 ford but as i look at it, it has a few different features than my other one.

for one.. it has dual front shocks (Quadra shocks?) on it? I was wondering is this a rare option they had or was it pretty standard? my 77 only has the single and it appears that the dual would be better for offroading?

also, the body trim on the fenders and doors is not the normal black with chrome on each side. it is a thin solid chrome trim. wondering what trim package trucks came with this?

thanks

The Quad shock option is nothing special, and I think it just makes the ride to rough.
A LOT of 78 79 Broncos came with them, and the same package was availabe for the trucks.

It was part of a package (don't remember, maybe towing package).

Trim doesn't sound stock to me.

The narrow chrome trim is a factory issue, found most often on the Custom as a special trim package. The wider trim was also available on the Custom, however, so not sure which "package" was which. I'm not sure if I've ever seen the narrow trim on a Ranger or XLT/Lariat, but I've certainly not seen it all!

What MBB says about the shock option is true - a '78-79 thing. I think I actually see more from these years with the quad shocks than without.

I have 2wd with an Autofab lift, so it may not relate to a 4wd suspension that well... but before with the stock suspension and dual shocks, the front end was way to soft and floaty. Now I have quad shocks (with taller springs) and the front end is much more stiff, but not uncomfortable. Now when I take corners, the front end doesn't sink to the outside of the turn... stays much more level.

thanks for the info that has been posted so far.. i want to try to research it more.. as i have found that people say it was a factory option on the quad shocks.. but not many people know about it..

the thin chrome trim option i do want to know more about as well..

where can i get a build sheet for the truck made at? Ford?

My 78 F 250 has the thin chrome trim. Personally I like the thicker ones with the black rubber or no trim at all. The thin trim makes it look a little whimpy. I will be replacing or removing mine durning the rebuild.
