head swap?
Can the head on a mustang be swaped to a 5.4 on a f150?
|
no. theoretically it will bolt up, and I've heard of people have done it on Mustang forums, but it required custom intakes and lots of machining. the ones who have done it were swapping 5.4's into Stangs and needed 4.6 heads because they were smaller and allowed the motor to fit under the OEM hood.
why would you want Mustang heads anyways? the 5.4 3v flows better and is a better head design than the Mustang 4.6 2v head. |
Well i remember the old days when the 289, 302 and 351 head could be swaped with no problems. I just was wondering in regards to the whole spark plug issue. And i also thought that the 4.6 had 4 valves. But ol well.

If you want to swap heads for the spark plug issue just get a new set of 5.4l 3v heads, they are a direct swap.

spark plug issue is overblown. Ford makes millions of these trucks and motors. the odds alone dictate an issue will surface...unfortunately Ford also has a small design error by using 2 peice sparkplugs rather than 1 piece. 2+2 = epidemic in some people's eyes |
anybody know how much a crate 5.4 4v cost. i saw one in a mustang at the local dealer and it looks big and mean. just curious. i dont have the cash for one but everybody deserves a dream or two
