60 - oil pressure sending unit - where does it go?

I have redone the wiring (EZWire) and got a new instrument panel with gauges (Dolphin).

Prior to my rewire and new gauges, I had/have a mechanical oil pressure sending unit in place. I thought it would be good to keep the mechanical in place until after the new electric oil pressure sending unit is in place.

Basic question is where does the unit go? From reading old posts, I believe the 223 6 cyl used a electric oil pressure sending unit. From reading old posts, I suspect there is also more then one place a person can install an oil pressure sending unit.

My mechanical is located on passenger side of engine, near firewall, down low.
Is this the original location? Does it sound like my mechanical replace the electronic?

Anybody got pictures???

Also, I am curious about the install. Is this done with oil, or without oil in the engine? Without makes sense, but I could see with, if done quickly and/or replace lost oil after completion of installation.

Thanks

You should put it in the same location as the mechanical one. You can swap them without draining the oil, you may lose a little but not much. I switched mine 2 or three times to compare the two readings.

Or, I think you could put in a Tee and have both? :)
