factory fiberglass truck bed panels!?!?!?
just yesterday i was offroading and later inthe day i discovered my driver side truck bed panel was cracked....this blew me away cause i though i had steel panels. but apparently i have fiberglass casue steel wouldnt of done that. i know my tail-gate is steel but whats the truck bed fendors aftermarket? someone shed some ligh on thiss issue. i cant imagine FORD would make fiberglass fenders an otion or standard on my truck.
:confused: i own a 2001 f.150 xly lariat 5.4 v8 supercrew. and the truck bed has the lights rounded off. the curved lights, not the regular rectangle ones. |
The sidebeds are fiberglass.

My buddy was pulling a car trailer. He backed up and got it too sharp and flexed the bumper into the panel and cracked it the whole length top to bottom. He too was shocked to see the glass sides. The truck only had 1400 miles on it.

its just on the supercrews and the step sides.... the regular sided trucks (fleet) have steel...

Well remember, they won't rust. My 2003 stepside does indeed have plastic bed sides. The inner bed panels are all steel, however.

fiberglass bedsides, not plastic, and what inner pannels are you talking about, the bed itself is steel, but there is no inner fender... the fiberglass bedside bolts to the steel bed underneath the plastic bed rail caps.... and then theres a few monts down at the bottom corrners of the fiberglass bedside to
