anyone do this conversion?

hey guys, i have a 2000 E-450 shuttle bus with the 7.3L, that i am wanting to convert to run on WVO (wasted vegetable oil) or SVO (straight vegetable oil) the reason being is this shuttle gets horrible gas mileage and as a traveling band, it would be awesome to save fuel cost. I'm going to check out the alternative fuel forum here, just going to see if anyone knows of anywhere in Ok i could talk to about it or not! thanks guys!

There really isn't a conversion process. All you need to do is acqire two 50 gallon drums (or whatever side), some 1" flex hose, a pump, a 50 micron filter and a 10 micron filter and you're good to go.

It is recomended that you swap out the fuel lines as the vegi-oil is a little harder on the rubber.

Connect the hose to barrel A (dirty), attach the other end of the hose to the 50 micron filter (standard pool filter that you can buy at any hardware store), then from the 50 micron filter to the pump, then to the 10 micron filter, then into your clean tank. Then you're good to go. I have a buddy that has this EXACT set-up and has been using it for about 2 years.

One recommendation is that when it is cold out, you may want to take a few gallons of your oil and heat it up to a couple hundred degrees, then dump it in with the rest of your oil in barrel A, this will allow the oil to flow better.

so u dont have to convert anything? so like it'd run on SVO right now? What about the dual fuel systems where it starts on diesel and then switches over to the wvo? what you said just seems too easy!

It's easy as pie.

The dual fuel system is because the veggi oil coagulates (gels) at a higher temp than diesel, therefore they start the vehicle on diesel and run it for a while and warm up the veggi oil.

Trust me, that all there is to it.
