I don't know a lot about it but from what I have read and hear it's a fairly popular swap.
I don't think that the cummins weighs as much as the PSD so that in it's self is a plus and with the right mods that cummins can be one hell of a contender. I just know others more knowledgeable than I will will give more info. Rog |

Thats my dream swap! I would not do a 24 valve common rail though. The 12 valve would be the easiest and the 24 valve IP engine would be the middle ground. The 12 valve is simple and still one of the most powerful engines when modded.

TJ is right, the 12 valve swap would be much easier because there is less electronics on it to mess with.
|
I was very impressed with what the Cummins 12V can do on our local dyno day back in Dec 07. Most of them were over 500hp with a few, not very expensive mods, compared to what it would take to get 500hp out of a 7.3.

Check with Beans diesel. Bean has done alot of cummins swaps I think.

is a ford manual tranny better than dodge and is it possible to match the two up?

Read this thread from the motor swap section.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...onversion.html If this one were a long bed it would be my dream project. Someday. |
yes there are adapters to mate a Zf-5 or 6 (ford manual) or a E4OD/4R100 up to a cummin's

I'm hoping he does it so i can help with the swap and no money out of my pocket ha
