Radio removeal
I need to remove my radio from my truck. Is there any help on how to do it?

you have 2 choices, get a DIN tool used to remove by placing it into the 4 holes, or just do what I did and use 4 allen head wrenches and slid them in. You can also pull out the glove box and reach in to help it out of place.

you need the removal tools but you can make them out of coat hangers just cut the long stright bottom out of the coat hanger and then cut it in half then make a u out of both pieces then put the 2 hanger pieces in the 4 holes in the raido but let me tell you you are going to have to play with to get it out try to get one side out then hold it and work on the other side

This is what a DIN tool looks like. Instead of this, take out your allen wrenches and slide four of them in place and press in (I believe) or use the coat hanger method mentioned above.

I've never had good luck with the coat hanger method- tried welding rod too without much luck. I have used allen wrenches in the past with some luck- Robb is right, insert them about 1.5" I think and push inward to release the clips. I now have a set of the DIN tools- work like a charm!

I just used the DIN tools. They were like only a few dollars. However, them seemed to be a glorified coat hanger though. Mine was a little stubborn to get out aswell.

Actually it's out away from each other. That moves the catches toward the radio then slide out.
Pull out on the "handles" which pushes the end of the tool inward to release the clips. When I said push in I was talking about the end of the tool, not the handle. |
I like pictures, better than trying to explain it :)

I have used ball head allen wrenches.
You can feel them lift the lock. Never had a problem. Bill |
Robb, sorry...that wasn't my intentions. Yep, it came from the fancy tech manual :). I can cut and paste better than I can type LOL.
The first time I had to remove this type of radio (no manual) I darn near pulled the dash outta the truck. Then I noticed those four little holes and the light went off...a couple pieces of 1/8 welding wire did the trick. |
Haha just giving you a hard time Jim, Pic is excellent for those that haven't pulled the radio before :-X22
