The light at the end of the tunnel.

Finished assembling the second unit yesterday, and now I'm waiting for the instrument guys to do their thing and then they will clear and purge and we should be back up. All in time for me to haul a** befor the Shell VP for all of Africa arrives Tuesday. Now as long as that light in the tunnel doesn't turn out to be a freight train.......

'Clear and Purge'...Is that like having too much fun and praying to the procelein god?

Eric C. 03-28-2008 02:02 AM

Probably close, they clear the isolation (pull blinds and enable valves) then purge with nitrogen so we don't go BOOM when they introduce the gas (100 celsius) from the processes for compression.

:-banghead :-banghead :-banghead It was a freight train after all. Oh Well, the best laid plans of mice and men, they don't have enough oil on board. Got less than half a 1300 gallon sump and 250 gallons left in drums. What joys. :-X02 :-X02

MARTYSTOWRIG 03-28-2008 11:51 PM

so now you have to wait for oil to be delivered? What kind of oil?

Eric C. 03-29-2008 03:52 AM

Good old Shell Turbine 32. 16 barrels setting on the dock waiting for the boat.

MARTYSTOWRIG 03-29-2008 09:47 AM

Nice, You didnt think of checking that when you got there and decided what you had to do?????

Eric C. 03-29-2008 02:52 PM

I started asking about it when I got here 6 weeks ago and started on them again 3 weeks ago everyday after they gave me the oil test results. They finally drained it on Tuesday, finally got the sump cleaned on Wednesday, closed on Thursday, they drained the makeup tank to the sump Thursday night and didn't tell anyone, pumped 5 drums to the make up tank Yesterday and put it in the sump last night and still are about400 gallons below safe operating level. Trying to get anyone to do anything is like when we get to it we will and if it means we do some actual work or try to think outside the box, FORGET IT. Unfortunately I am just a VENDOR so all I can do is Suggest.

fill it with some veggie oil from the galley and see if that works.

Eric C. 03-29-2008 03:07 PM

12 hours a day waiting on them + 40% for Nigeria + 10% for offshore +5% for over 30 days. I'll wait for the right stuff.

MARTYSTOWRIG 03-29-2008 03:42 PM

Hey buddy you and that paycheck plus your company card...... Hi Friend, have you ever wanted a good son? Im here !

Eric C. 03-29-2008 04:02 PM

I already got kids like you, I just paid $500.00 to put tires and brakes on the daughters voyager and this was after the $450.00 for the new steering box I put in a couple of moths ago. That and you drive a newer truck than me, NOT. But then I'm a sick puppy and like older Iron anyway.

Placermike 03-29-2008 04:06 PM

Older is right...They actually used metal in vehicles in the old days!

MARTYSTOWRIG 03-29-2008 04:10 PM

that metal adds weight which uses more torque and HP to move burning more fuel

Eric C. 03-29-2008 04:12 PM

Yea but when you hit that Rosevelt elk comming out of Grays River or or coming across the Naselle River it helps to have real steel there.
