Broken Gas Gauge... How To Fix?

I'm not sure what the problem is, maybe electrical short, or maybe the float is stuck inside the tank.

What is happening is I put $20.00 in the tank and the gauge didn't move from "E" . Something must be broken...

Has anyone else experienced this and what is the fix?

:)

get a rubber mallet and give your tank a whack, see if that unsticks your float. If it does, then you know your answer.

I think you missed the connection.... S/A :)

It's in the wording

If you want the gauge to move, you will have to put some liquid in (preferably gasoline). $20 in paper or coin will only serve to clog the system. :-X07

Naw, my leisure time is much more valuable than overtime... that's why I'm no longer in the Big Oil industry.

BUY a Hybrid or a Honda FIT, Can't haul much in them, but 20 bucks might get the needle off the red line, at least a little.

Reg unleaded $3.47. 20 gets me half a tank in my B2200:-X22.

In Alberta, some people are so rich they throw money at everything hoping to fix it. ;)

You're lucky they are throwing their own money at it- Down here, politicians throw everyone else's money at the problems.

I think the Problem is with the $20!

Remember when you could fill up your car for $20?

evictorwalli 03-20-2008 12:14 AM

I remember driving through Wyoming in 1989 and gas was .74 cents/gallon. A $10 dollar bill could fill up the car.

When I bought my Mustang I was filling the tank for under $15, circa late 2001.

I remember spending $50 shortly after buying the SuperDuty in the fall of 04. The girl working the register said "wow, I don't think I have ever seen anyone pump $50 into a vehicle before."

I spent $50 to fill the Mustang last week :-down

$75.00 to fill my 68-liter tank last Friday.
