I have the 3" Air Force 1 on my truck and love it. The moment I put it on my truck I could feel the difference in throttle response. With the 3" AF1 you don't need custom tuning, but if you go with the 3.5" AF1 you'll need custom tuning in order to not run lean.

Thanks, I'm not a fan of K&N I've only heard of it being overpriced and a joke.. I've also heard, not to spend over 100 bucks on an intake.

Any intake you get under $100 will most likely not have a quality filter element on it, and for some cheap intakes, they just use cheap flex tubing which causes a great deal of turbulance with the air. You get what you pay for with intakes, as with any modification to your truck. Do you really want to put a cheap filter on your expensive truck? |
I installed a Volant cold air intake on my 08 F150. Price was a bit cheaper than K&N. Noticed a big difference right away, even changed the sound somewhat. The installation was pretty easy and not a bad fit.

I my opinion K&N is a great company with great products. They have built off their reputation and can back their stuff with many years of warrenty. I have always ran K&N filters and cold intakes on my trucks. The rewashable filters are great and really will be with you long after your truck isn't.
Just my opinion on K&N I have ran it for twenty years now. |
K & N is not a joke....but theres better out there

K & N been around a while but the technology today is far supreme, who needsoil for filter......not I ...I only spent $150 for my intake and "jjg" is not far off the price, I was told that CAI units are over rated and you could pull almost the same numbers HP & Torque by doing simple things. 1. Replaceing the stock intake arm (tube) with an unrestricted flow through intake tube polyurethane the one I bought was the Airaid M.I.T. $109.95 and 2. Replacing the stock paper air filter with a Dry Flow direct fit high performance air filter that goes in the stock air box housing, the one I got was AEM performance panel filter $39.95 no oil needed and the filtration and flow is tops, also one never has to worry about over oiling the filter, washable and let dry put back-in, stops 1 micron dust particles where K&N and other filters that need oil only stop 5 micron sized, plus I got dyno numbers close to you CAI units, I pulled 15hp/33ft.lbs. torque with $150 not bad, and Iam happy with that. The guy at the shop told me that these CAI units are for looks and the nice "whistle " noise they make some people like'em for sound but HP #'s they aint all that, saved my A$$ some money and used it to get and Super 44 muffler cat-system, figure if the truck is now breathing better then it better be able to exhale better as well, oh and the Super 44 is aggressive sounding muffler with Deep tone through all RPM's. This is just what I did and it worked for me and my budget, yours may differ, to each his own, I love these F-150's though, fun to drive. |
from what i hear AEM Brute Force is one of the best on the market.. thinking about getting one after i look into it a little more

We sell the AEM and researched many of them before taking on the AEM line. In our opinion the quality of construction was the best, they use a dry element which is great, and their support is great:
