body mounts and bushings
 

Mine are toast. Just wondering the best way to go about replacing those. I don't have access to a lift (dammit) so i'm gonna have to redneck it with a jack. Anybody have pics or advice. Anything appreciated.

I bought the parts to do this a while back, but haven't gotten around to it yet. If I remember correctly, Frederic said that he had done it before and told me how to do it myself in the driveway. I knew it wouldn't be too complicated. Anway, here is the best way to go about doing it yourself.

First loosen all the bolts. Second jack up one side of the truck just enough to get the bushings etc out. Second replace said parts. Third do the other side the same way. Then tighten all the bolts. This way you have all the bolts on one side of the tuck so the cab won't slide off of the frame. There are 6 if you have a regular cab.

I got Prothane polyurethane bushings from JCW and new Ford hardware from LMC as well. Energy Suspension is good too. I didn't want to fool with the rubber crap that doesn't last.

like he said, loosen all bolts lift one side replace those, put together loose then do other side. i did the same thing for body lift, used a floor jack with a 8 or 12 inch cut piece of 4"x4" wood on top, no problems

Just for clarification. Are you lifting the frame or body when replacing the bushings as described above?

You need to lift the body off of the frame. The body mounts connect the frame and body. The body is the cab.
