Wiper blades?
 

I would like to know where to find decent blades.

I tried those Canadian tire reflex jobs, they did a really good job of clearing the glass but they just kept falling off the arms.

Then I realised as stupid as the question may seem, I have a wealth of experience here so why not use it. ;)

I like to hear any opinions you guys might have on these, I have yet to find a decent no problem blade on these 80-86 trucks

I picked up a set of Bosch wiper blades at Benson Auto Parts and the have been doing a good job. They have a metal frame but don't seem to freeze up at all. I think they cost $16.00 each so If they last the winter I will be happy.

I just buy the cheapest ones possible because they wear out anyways. I used to get the "winter" wipers for the car and the van but they must have changed the rubber formula on them recently because they don't last near as long as they used to before the rubber skin shreds.

As for the cheap ones, They don't seem to contact the glass all the way and I find that really anoying, could be I should give the arms themselves a closer look

I had to add a set of helper springs to the wipers on my 86 to keep the wipers in contact with the windshield. My 89 Ranger also needed them. I can't remember which section they are in at Crappy Tire...

I just remembered my Wife bought a set at CTC with "wings" on the frame to keep pressure on the glass. Seems to work well but I can hear wind noise from them on the hyway.

Whatever wipers you use stay away from the rain-x washer fluid sold at Canadian Tire. I bought some and it destroys the rubber on the blades. I'm not the only one who has that problem, we've had some customers come back and complain as well.

Thanks for the info i was wondering what was killing the blades i was using. i will go back to the stock stuff

I have been using rain x for 7 years never had any trouble also use rain x that you apply to the windshield love it hardly need wipers with it

blades dont last for ever and should be changed twice a year especially after winter as ice and snow damage the blade and couses small tears and chunks to break off

Blades should be replaced twice a year I'll give you that. But when you buy new blades and fluid at exactly the same time and a month later your baldes are shot, that says something to me. Especially when the regular blue washer fluid never did that to new blades.Besides the rain-x stuff is expensive!! And it doesn't do any better of a job.

I like the rain-x treatment that you apply to the windshield. That does work rather well and as far as I'm concerned. Then the regular windshield washer stuff becomes adequate.

Btw, I stopped in to partsman and got they're exact fit winter blade and they work really well, no silicon, no bs, for twelve dollars a piece, kind of just simply found the answer to my problem and reasonably cheap too . ;)

I used Rain-x but quit when they came out with the washer fluid. never had a problem with rain-x itself. i thought the quality of rubber in wipper blades went to crap.

i have a 70 Ford Fairlane 500 that has a set of wiper blades from the early 80 that still works like a top. it is kept out of the sun, but the new one will still will not last that long.
