the last time i drove my ranchero with the good old 400 in it i was averaging around 10 mpg highway and in the low single digits in town.

now that i am doing a performance build up on my engine i was wonderign if there were any ways I could increase gas mileage are there any components that would do this???

I was thinking of maybe a hood scoop would that increase my gas mileage considerably??? and would it give me any considerable horse power??

I doubt you'll see any MPG improvement with a scoop. Possibly worth a couple HP at high speed.

1. Change the axle to a different ratio.
2. Install an OD trans.
or
3. Swap the stock intake for an aftermarket one with smaller ports and get a 450-600CFM carb.
