On Line Sales Tax

 How many are in favor of our beloved Gov wanting to collect sales tax on internet sales? This sort of ranks up there with licensing illegal immigrants.

I think I remember this being tried once before, and it flopped.

Personally I don''t like it one bit. I would be curious to see how much money the state is actually losing in sales tax revenue from internet sales.

He did try to introduce this before and then changed his mind, but this time it looks like he is pushing for it. It's amazing how people thought he would be such a great person to have as gov. and how he was going to make great changes to help the state grow, but all he has done is make things worse in many ways. We may end up losing 2 hospitals in my area because of him. Not to meation he has cut my work load in half tanks to the stupid alcohol ad signage laws he dug up. Why should we have to pay taxes on on-line orders if the company isn't based in NY? I take my kids to MA to shop for school clothing because they don't have tax on clothing.

Another thing that burns me about the gov. is this. My wife mentioned to me, and if I remmeber correctly, he is proposing to add a $15 fee to our health insurance to help pay for bridge repairs!!!! WTF, health insurance premiums are already high enough and them he wants to do this.

Also it seems that everything that he is proposing is for the downstate area and will never benefit the upstate area where I live. I Have said it before and will continue to say it, the downstate area should be its own state and be seperated from upstate.

The state had money for bridge repair and spent it on something else...

It would be interesting to see how NY is going to force a company with no store in NY to collect sales tax.

isn't this on the NYS tax return???. near the bottom of pg 1...."Internet purchaces" and tax owed???? or there abouts. i'm pretty sure there's a line asking about online tax liability. Pataki started it.

That part of the tax returns is a joke, if I buy something out of state(including internet) I am supposed to report it and pay sales tax on it. I contacted the state tax people on this once. I was buying a lot of things in NY (couldn't get what I wanted in VA), and taking them down to VA. I asked the tax people if I would only have to pay the lower %age of the VA tax instead of the higher NY tax. Of course not, pay the higher amount.

i dont understand this....it seems stupid to me. Wouldnt this need to be for phone purchases too? Also, you are going to pay sales tax on used items now also?

This didnt go well in the other states like CA that it was attempted to get started in, why NY?

I think Eliot Spitzer has been smoking crack with George Bush.
