Is that actually a big hole above the door?

fdude64 02-11-2008 07:31 PM

they have come up with what they say is better. (better for them) this new brine solution that they spray on the roads before it snows. this stuff doesnt dry t just keeps eating away at what ever it gets on or into liquid salt who wouldda thunk. and here they mix it with beet juice so it sticks better. imagine that

Ever heard of hosing your truck off in the winter?

crazyredneckanyhow 02-11-2008 07:35 PM

Patch it and before you paint POR15 the hell out of it. Nuthin gets through that stuff. Its like $100 a gallon but well worth it

If you look in the picture, you see a straight line. Looks like it has had some patch work done, maybe metal welded in the filler (body puddy) to give a finish look.
Filler will soak in moisture unless it's treated from the inside out.

I had a piece of aluminum siding pop rivited over it so it would pass inspection.

Why would you drive it in those conditions? Especially a rust free tool box bed! I park mine at the end of October and it does not come out untill it has rained HEAVY for at least 3 or 4 times to wash away that salt. Here is what mine looks like in the winter. Up on jackstands and turns into a storage container underneath.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I've put maybe 40 miles on mine since November... Been waiting for the weather to break a little bit, but it hasn't held off for more than a few days.. or snows and starts over.

Why would you drive it in those conditions?
Because some of us don't have the luxury of a garage or spare vehicle for winter use.

I didnt want to drive it, but times were tough and it was the only truck I could afford to have running for a long time. My ranger needed a new motor, The '86 needed a tranny, The '78 has no oil pressure and my tilt bed gets 4mpg, so I really had no choice.

psquare7575 02-11-2008 08:32 PM

In that case, what ever happened to hosing off the truck? Even my daily driver which I could care less about, I do it once every 2 weeks or so thoroughly.

scrapyardking 02-11-2008 08:34 PM

It is very difficult to get a hose up behind that box

kuzzins27 02-11-2008 08:36 PM

Also quite a pain when your hose is frozen solid.
