Horsepower Rating for a 1974 F100 460 C.I. "stock"
 

I recently inherited my grandfathers 74 F100. It has a 460 and around 31,000 miles on it. Propane was added to it for an alternative fuel. This is a stock motor with no modifications. Does anyone know what kind of horsepower and torque this thing has using either propane or gas?

What did the motor come out of? Is it a 1974 model 460? In 1974 no 460's were put in trucks, from the factory. This engine must have been put in at a later date.

A young cousin of mine would be willing to argue that point.
 

He has the factory build sheet for his F100 that left the plant 460 equipped. Very few were made, and all that were produced were only available in the 2WD.
16 year old Mason paid $3300, and as rough as the old truck looks, he was offered $8500 the same evening he bought it. The retired paint and body man whose house he stopped at while having a headlight issue knew something young Mason was oblivious to, but was savvy enough to pass on the offer. He's pretty proud of his lucky find. Who knows what it'll be worth to the right person.

460: 1968/78 Lincoln/Continental Marks, 1972/76 Thunderbird, 1973/78 Ford/Merc Passenger Cars // 1973/76 F100, 1973/79 F250/350, 1975/79 F150.

1975/97 E250/350, 1983/96 F250/350, 1988/97 F(Super Duty), 1997 F250 H/D & F350.

1983 was the first year that the 460 was available with M/T & 4WD

'74 460 was probably in the 225HP range, low to mid 300s for torque. On propane? 150-175.
