429 stang
I am currently looking at a 69/70 stang with a 429. Problem is the only listing in the vin is the 429 ford/dodge hybrid Hemi (a.k.a Boss). And the 71-73 ran the cj's. What do you think haven't had a chance to talk to the owner. But need's the dash wiring replaced he's asking $2500.00 . Or not worry about it and buy it? tranny & motor have 10,000 miles on them.

the boss 429 is not a ford/dodge hybrid but anyway if you have found a boss 429 mustang for $2500 you better buy it FAST.

429 stang
I remember seeing a Boss 429 Stang on a used car lot with a plain-jane 429 in it about 25 years ago and they were asking $2500 for it. The VIN was correct so they didn’t know what they had at the time. A sure way to tell is by looking at the shock towers. The Boss 429 Stangs were heavily modified there to fit that wide beast. If it is, BUY IT!

if my memory serves me correctly(its been known to fail me on an occasion or two) but the 69-70's could be had with a 429 cj or the boss. the easiest way to tell if its a boss is that it has big ##### valve covers with spark plug wires that go in through the top(boss's are hemis and have the spark plug in the middle of the combustion chamber. hope this helps. and if it is a boss, BUY IT NOW.

Profanity Removed!!!!!!! Where do these people come from????? What the heck is a ford/dodge hybrid hemi??????? BTW, just for trivia sake, the Boss was NOT a true hemi. It had a crescent shaped combustion chamber and is more correctly referred to as a "semi-hemi" |

I would say that a 429 is a 429, just as long as it's built right. The wiring can be harry, just don't screw it up. However you really should check into the motor as far as who built it. I personaly decided not to ever buy a motor that has been built by an ameture after the screwup job an ex friend of mine did on a 350 in a truck I bought from him a few years ago. Even rebuilding facillities can F up bad.
