coolant leak at right rear side of engine.
I have a 2000 ,f150, 2wd,5.4.
There is a small coolant leak near the right rear head. I have found a tsb 00-18-3. Bulletin indicated that this is caused by a intake manifold gasket and can be fixed by ordering yl3z-9439-aa gasket. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this before? |
It could also be you cylinder head.

I've had a similar leak, but it wasn't the cylinder head.
By right side you mean passenger side, right? There is a tube that goes into the intake manifold towards the back of the engine on the passenger side. This tube feeds hot coolant to the heater core. On my truck the tube developed a pinhole leak. I googled it and read that the same thing had happened to a few other people. Since you have to remove the intake manifold to fix it, I went another route... I ended up glopping on EPOXY and letting it dry and then repeating a few times to seal it up. Worked like a charm. Not sure if this is your problem or not, but its worth looking into to see exactly where the leak is coming from. |

heater hose fittings them selfs have been known to leak and drip coolant onto the back couple spark plugs-- you might check the hoses and fittings.

I wanted to give update.. the replacement gasket solved the coolant leak and solved my #4 missfire.. coolant had filled up my spark plug tunnel.. thanks all for the input.
