f-150 airbox silencer ?
 

i own a 2001 supercrew with 5.4 power,and was reading an article lately (and cant remember where)that an f-150 owner had removed his airbox silencer. if anyone knows of such an animal please help me out here.i.e. where is it and how can i delete it? what can a supercrew beat in a race, well i havent lost to a chevy or dodge truck,and i had a guy go in a 79 or so vette- he lost badly.:-X12

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-Dec-01 AT 03:08 PM (EST)]The air box silencer you are talking about is basically the air box that the air filter is in. I have removed them in my mustangs and Ford Superduty. To remove it, there should be a screw that mounts the airbox to the side of the truck in the engine. Just undo the clamp that holds the two pieces of the airbox together and undo that screw and the black box that covers the air filter should come off. Hope that helps. :-X22

hi chad, if i remove this plastic box,what then holds the k&n in place? does'nt this set up require the box to hold everything together?in the past iv'e drilled several holes in the airbox for sound, and have had great success, but when i drilled this box there was no noticable change. thanks for youre reply.:-staun

I say just buy a FIPK kit. I got one from MAC and it is stainless and sounds great.
