Boost Adjustment ? Unique Set Up

HI all, I have an 88 7.3 IDI, with a powerstroke turbo plumbed in (that's why I'm posting here).

Is there a non electronic way to increase the boost ? Other IDI turbo units had adjustment rods, etc. I can't see anything like that but maybe I'm not looking in the right place.

My gauge is showing 5-8 lbs max. I would like to get it up to 12 or so. I understand that for the engine staying in one piece I shouldn't go past 15.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

well depending on a turbo you have if you have non waistgate exhaust housing you got nothing to adjust boost. so if you dont see and actuator rod on the turbo itself than its no way to adjust it to raise boost ....
more fuel :)
maybe bigger turbo? LOL..... it never ends.

good luck

Yeah, it kind of depends what year powerstroke your turbo came off of. If it came off of a 94.5-97 then you have no adjustment. The turbo has no wastegate since the amount of exhaust (fuel) needed to spin it is way more than your IDI is capable of without some injectors and pump modifications. Then you're looking at big $$ and the possibility of blowing it up since the 21:1 compression ratio is super high for any real amount of boost.

On the other hand, if you have a 99-03 turbocharger then you do have a wastegate adjustment. Also, this turbocharger would lend itself to building boost better with limited fuel delivery due to the smaller turbine housing (cast iron one on the pass. side)that takes less exhaust to get to spin (light) quicker.

How in the world does the oil supply/return work with the PSD turbocharger pedestal since there is no provision for it on the old IDI block?
