2002 Ford F150 4.2L V6

Hi,

I need some very specific advise. I have an 02 F150 4.2L V6 2wd and am looking for the dang PCV valve. The problem is that I think its located on the driver side and is a "hose" rather than a "PCV" that is connected to the Clean Air Intake after the MAF sensor leading directly into the intake manifold. This hose looks nothing like a PCV. I went to NAPA and the guy gave me a PCV for my truck make, year and everything. I verified it. I also purchased a Haynes manual but wouldn't you know their picture is not what my "hose" looks like. I am a fairly good shade tree mechanic but I can't figure this one out. My engine is running too Lean at Bank 1 and 2. I've replaced the H02 sensors and DPFE pressure sensor, cleaned the MAF and all connections. Rumor has it I may have a leaky intake gasket. Hmmm. Aside from this can some so me a picture of where the PCV is located or if the hose I'm referring to is essentially the ventaliation and no valve was made for this make model.

Help is truly appreciated,

Shade Tree

i have an 01 in the shop right now with the intake off for the same prroblem. Pcv is located in the passenger side valve cover right behind the coil pack. Strange looking apparatus, has 1 vacumn line and 2 coolant lines running to it. I presume Ford does this to keep condensation from building up in the pcv system. Good luck

I'm not 100% certain, but check just behind/below the throttle body. I think that is where the PCV valve is now located.

(I guess I really should know for sure since I have an '05 and have only opened the hood about 100 times since I bought it. :-X15 )

well have you checked the the throttle body gasket i once added a tb spacer on & put on the gasket in wrong so had codes running lean bank 1 & 2..... trying checking that 1st.....maybe tb came on lose as well??....check all clamps on intake for any leaks. for the the pcv valve i think theres a 1 green hose going out to it on passenger side around the valve cover area with like 2 to 3 connections on it... hope that helps
