8 wires for electric mirrors???

there's a guy selling what he claims is:
"Here's a NEW take-off pair of telescoping mirrors from a 2007 Ford F-350.....taken off of a brand new truck with only 10 miles.........but will fit 1999-2007 Ford F-250 F-350 Superduty and Excursion."

when i asked him about the connector he said it was n 8-wire flat connector.

has anybody ever heard of an 8-wire mirror connector???

thanks,
marvin

According to the service manual for my truck, I have a 10 wire connector, but only 7 wires are used.

If the mirror is electric, heated, and has the running/turn signal lights, there is need enough for those wires.

i notice that in the diagram you included that there are only 7 wires used as you also stated.
the guy claims that there are 8 wires and he says he hasn't miscounted?

Maybe it's the electrically telescoping mirrors? That would account for an extra wire.

Either way, if the plugs don't match up, you should be able to use a test light and stuff to figure out what the wires do and mate them up.

Ford schematics for mirror wiring

i just came back from the Ford garage in Hillsboro, OR. Jeff, the service manager was extremely helpful and willing to pull these schematics for me.

there are 2 diagrams. from these it was possible for me to determine that my 2003 truck is wired for all advanced features of the telescoping mirrors EXCEPT telescoping.

Question: how do i include these .jpg images in a text?

thanks,
marvin

I think it is possible there is a second ground wire. Thinking it is a black/white wire.

Here are the wiring diagrams i received from the local Ford dealership. The first is the wiring for the power mirror and the second shows the details for mirrors with the heater options.

it's possible that the 8th wire on the mirrors i'm tracking on ebay are for the power telescoping feature. i'd need to get another switch and wire it in to be able to take advantage of that.

i hope these diagrams are of use!

Not unless the guy on ebay is selling '08 mirrors. There was no power telescoping option for the '03 to '07 mirrors for these trucks unless it is an aftermarket part. No Ford OEM were made with telescoping until 2008 and that is a different style of mirror.

So can these mirrors be added to an XL truck w/ manual mirrors??

Not unless you add the power switches to your door and have the power pigtail in the door above the speaker (might be there since it was a fairly standard part of the wiring harness). If the pigtail is in the door, you would need to check and make sure there is a fuse in place, etc. but it should work if you can get the mirror switch for the door panel.

If you don't have the pigtail for the mirrors in your door, you will have a big job wiring everything in for these mirros - I wouldn't want to tackle that one.
