460 Build Up

I have a 71 block that I am about ready to take to the machine shop for work. This motor is going in a 1979 F-350 that I used for just about everything (towing, hauling, driver, etc.). I would like to bump up the compression ratio a little but was wondering what would be about the right ratio that I could run on pump gas? I don't want to go to far, but difinently would like to liven this thing up. I have the D3VE-A2A heads which I know you have to remove the smog bumps to help with performance. This engine will not have to pass the sniffer test (Delaware) so no EGR or air pump junk.
I am doing this build up in stages (hide some of the cost from wife), so I am starting with the bottom end this week.
Thanks!

Craig

I would use those heads with some better pistons. Here is a link to a similar thread.

I would strongly reccommend having everything balanced.

Thanks Brian!
I know this subject has been covered many times but my search did not work right.
Thanks again!
