the local dodge lover and my "new" ford.

i ran into the local dodge lover this morning at the corner deli. before i could escape, he started in on me about my 02 superduty.
the first thing he starts off with is a statement " oh. i see you bought rogers truck. that thing is a piece of junk. you should have bought a dodge"

i looked at him, and asked him what the heck he was talking about, and who the heck was roger.
i got "you know, roger. the guy you bought that junk truck from that lives up the street."
that was when i informed him i bought the truck from the original owner, named frank, who lived 15 miles away. again, "oh no, that was rogers truck, i know cause i worked on it."

then he started in on how dodge made the most dependable truck, and how ford diesels were junk. and he has read how bad fords are numerous times over the past few years.

at this point, with at least 10 people listening to his B.S., i said "yup fords are junk, and dodges never break down. that is why my 20 year old diesel has never been into the dealers for any work, and your dodge has been in the dealers for the past 6 months not running." and then walked out, as everyone started laughing at him.

this afternoon, the kid behind the counter told me he sat there for over 1 hour badmouthing me and my fords to everyone that came in.

and everyone told him fords were the best truck made, and his dodge was a P.O.S.

i love it when idiots prove themselves without any doubt to be stupid. :-D

A truck is a truck. Depending on the set up and how the vehicle is taken care of will determine the longetevity (sp) of the vehicle. That said, I will permit my own thought.

Ford owns. All.

<3 My Ford! Hooah.

HAHA sounds like you told him. But I will agree with what 6CylBill says it's all in how you take care of it. Unless of course it's a Dodge in which case you better have a stock pile of tranny's sitting around.

Not sure where I'd post this, but since we're talking about Dodge's I'd like to ask does anyone know the power output of a v6 magnum? I see a LOT of v6 magnum's in Dodge regular cab trucks. Must be a decent motor, huh???

BigDaddy6969 11-19-2007 09:49 PM

There is only ONE decent 6 cyl motor for trucks and that of course is the 4.9, end of discussion.

Why would some stranger care what someone else drives?

I don't understand some people.

CampSpringsJohn 11-20-2007 12:12 PM

You know when I see someone I haven't met and I want to start a nice positive conversation with him, the first thing I always do is insult them for what they drive. You see, it is my business to educate everyone about the junk vehicles they drive. Since I drive the best, it means I'm better than you...................................

Some people shouldn't be allowed to breed. At some point this guy will probably be a canadidate for the Darwin Awards.

End? Nah...the 5.9L & 6.7L Cummins is a very nice 6-cylinder truck engine. :D

unless it is in a dodge truck, then it is a pos, just like the sheet metal that surrounds it.

yup. sooner or later.
he has done a backflip off his wrecker already, cause he weighs 350lbs, and the steps on the side of the truck are only good for about 300lbs.
no one at the the port authority of ny-nj where he works likes him either, cause he runs his mouth about things he has no knowledge of, but is an expert in cause he read about it in a magazine.
if you all remember me talking about the mr know-it-all last year, this is the same butthead that said "i don't know nothing about no fords", then walked outside the store and tried telling someone they had a 302 in their truck, cause a 351 was only offered in cars.
and that the truck did not have king pins, it had trundle bushings.

He prolly wouldn't know a 351 engine if he saw one. From your description, I'd say he reads the captions in the magazine photos, and skims thru the rest of the story.

Self styled expert = A person who reads one story about a particular subject, then thinks he knows it all.

Just wait till his hodge podge Dodge eats a few transmissions, and the front end gives out after 20K miles. It'll be interesting to see what he says then.

What the heck is a trundle bushing? I never knew trundle beds had bushings.

Mebbe he means Torrington needle bearings. Prolly never heard of them, either.

tjc transport 11-20-2007 07:28 PM

well Bill, his best truck ever made has had 2 transmissions put in it, had the front end rebuilt 3 times, 3 injector pumps, 2 fuel pumps, 2 rear axles, and the bed replaced due to rot out. and it is only 4 years old, with 92k miles on it.

oh yea, and it has been at the dealer for 3 months now, cause they can not keep it running for more than 1/2 hour at a time.

but that there dodge cummins turbo diesel is the absolute best truck ever made!!:-missingt

You are kidding, Right???

I mean, you'd tell him that just to throw him off...not because you really believe it..

Tim :-wink
