The resistor wire coming out of the Ignition switch is the bal;last resistor.

Joe, what transmission are you running to get 5 forward gears?

You might want to try the Autozone repair guide section that they have online.

can the ballast resister wire go bad??? like in in the mid 70s dodges they had a porcelain ballast on the fire wall that would go out & the engine wouldn't start up.
thanks again

Ballast resistors will melt and become an open circuit

It is nothing more than a fusible link wire.

using a Mopar BR will work fine with an 12 or 14 Gauge wire.
