Sterling 10.25 posi

Im almost 100% sure the rear end of my f250 is a sterling. How can i be sure? It hub sticks out pretty far and it looks different than the dana 60s ive seen.

but anyway ive been seeing some posi units for sterling 10.25s for pretty cheap on ebay and im wondering how hard they are to install?

any help is apreciated.
Oh and heres a picture of my truck just for the heck of it.

Dana 60/70/80 has fill plug on the diff cover and the entire differential cover is shaped like a D, with a noticable bump that outlines the location of the ring gear.

Sterling 10.25 has no such fill plug and has a much smaller ring gear bump, The Sterling has extra reinforcement around the Differential where the Danas do not.

Also a D60 has diff. bolts measuring 9/16". Your front axle is a D 60, compare covers with your rear.
If you are still confused about which you have post a pic of the diff cover and i can tell you. I would be willing to bet that it is a Sterling 10.25

By the way, if the hubs stick out past the wheels then it is a full float axle.

Why have you been lookin on ebay? is the axle shot?

Yeah the hubs stick out real far. So far my wheel caps on my new wheels wont fit.
I was looking on ebay for lockers and I saw these posi units for cheap. Right now i have an open differential and i was looking for more traction.

Ahh i see. Well you are on the right track by having a full floater, the semi float sterlings just dont compare:-X15
