Replace Injectors - DIY ?

Have 200k miles. Wanting to run as good as possible. Done usual mods including 6637 filter and eventual DP tuner. Was thinking of injectors next. Saw some DIY / rebuild yourself or buying a rebuilt set.

My question is....how big a job is replacing the injectors?

Should I get some tests done and only replace what seems to be a problem or replace all at once?

Thanks FTE!

Here is my take. I called them about trying to pinch a buck. They said that the difference between DIY and sending it in was negligible when you consider the warranty. Almost like getting the work for next to nothing with the guarantee and knowing it is done right. The biggie seems to be identifying an injector that is beyond repair in the first place.

Decided I was not going to do it myself if I went that route. Your mileage may vary.

EDIT: I forgot to mention I was calling about going to single shots. :-D

The replacing of injectors is not really that complicated, there are a lot of steps to follow, but none that require a degree in diesel theory, or a special $200 tool.

the hardest part is making sure the new injectors are seated properly(read: don't mess up an o-ring) and repressurizing the oil gallery(read: need two sets of batts or a really good charger)

Look here for a good set of directions http://www.beansdieselperformance.co...torinstall.htm

a long standing rule of thumb, or myth, depending on your experience, is injectors have a 250,000 mile design life. As Mike said your mileage may vary...
