that would be 49.5 hp, a little off with tubz numbers, 225-166, thats 59 hp, giving you a 27 % loss

yeah but every truck is different ;) i'd say it ranges from 160-190 depending on wear, maintance over the years, turbo condition, injector condition.. all that good stuff

You dont need bigger oil for more power ;). Superduty hpop is enough to support 500++ rwhp.

A new 17* pump run me about $900. Big oil is not necessary until you start runnin true B-codes.

There is a few users on here that can get 17* pumps for under $500. I just went to the stealership and bought one, I had no time to search for one.

I have a link on my laptop with a site that has 17* pumps for less than $350 plus core. But if you don't have a 17* core you might have a problem. Also if you have an IH dealer that will get you parts at wholesale they are under $350 plus core but then same deal with the core unit.

a 17* pump wouldn't hold up to my A-codes.

arkredneck 10-29-2007 06:02 AM

how do you tell if you got the 15 or 17 degree pump?

The only sure fire way is to pull the rear cover of the HPOP to check for a bearing or a bushing. bearing is a 15* and bushing is 17*. But pretty much if your HPOP has never been changed any 94.5 to early 99 will have a 15* and late 99 to 03 will have 17*.

(click here) thats the cheapest around. Check on the core though

Sounds like your 17* is a little weak Tubzz.
