Anyone have more info on the 3-speed aux transmissions? Is that something that can be added to a stock 1948 F-7 driveline? Does Marmom-Harrigton make something like that?

From what I can find in the Big Job catalog, the 3 speed wasn't a Ford installed unit until 53. I would guess that any number of aftermarket manufacturers could be the source or a 3 speed auxiliary trans. If you have enough wheelbase, I would venture to say that a 3 peed auxiliary could be added pretty easily.

Hi Joe I got the pictures you sent me it looked like it would have been a neat project. I came across a nice 56-f 800 in truckpaper.com all restored to original condition its worth a look lots of pictures .nice truck but out of my price range

They always are. What kind of price are you looking at? Does it have to be a '56? If not, I can check with a lady in Maine to see if she still has the pair of '55 F-800's she was wanting to sell. One was a dumptruck that was mostly restored (her husband died before he could finish the resto), and the other was a pretty straight and complete looking cab and chassis.

need rear brake shoe springs for 51 F 7
 

Hi Guys
When the shop was removing my rear brake shoes today one of the springs broke. It is an odd shaped spring ( U SHAPED). I have chuck from chuckstrucks looking for replacements but was wondering if anyone had extras or know of some NOS ones for sale. Man these trucks are hard to find parts for.

I'll check to see if they are the same from 51-55 on he hardware, if so, I have a complete rear brake set up that I can strip.

Is it the shoe retractiing spring? goes at the top, and there should be two of them. It don't amtter, really which spring, because according to my Big Job book they are the same from 49-55 for sure, and some 48's too.

Not mine ... FYI there is a 1952 F7 for sale on HAMB. Looks pretty good and cheap. If it were closer it'd be another lawn ornament

I found this on the net. Looks like it would be a great project but I already have several other projects going. That thing is a monster. The website said it was a local made body on an F7 frame.
