VIN Id help, '66 spring special?
Hi all, I am new to this forum, glad to find you:)
I will have lots of questions and lots to share, all related to my two 1966 Econoline pickups. First, I would like help decoding my VIN plate. Most of the info is quite clear and the Ford Shop manual catches most of it. However, there is the DSO that I need help with. I believe this is a 1966 Spring Special. It is red with chrome side moldings, chrome dash, oil gauge and temp gauge, alum trim parking lights, and chrome glove box door. VIN: E10AH734354 WB: 090 COLOR: J MODEL: E100 BODY: E87 TRANS: C AXLE: 07 MAX GVW: 3800 NET HP: 129 RPM: 4000 DSO: 71 Thanks, John |
The Chrome dash Plate and glove box door was someones doing afetr market. Someone had them electroplated. (Chromed)
It seems you have most of the vin tags decoded except that DSO. I'm not sure what that means. I think it is a Dealership Special Order, wild guess. Maybe numberdummy who has lots of tidbits on these things may pop in and answer this. If you are still having problems with the rest of the vin plate, let us know I can see about deciphering it for you as best I can. |
I am VERY new to this website, and now the new parent of a 1963 Ford Econoline Pickup Truck. I would also like to have the VIN decoded, so that I may see what I have. My E-100 also has a plate showing its history as belonging to the United States Air Force, and I have noticed it has a Ford 9" rearend. Other than that, I need help please. Below is all of the markings on my VIN plate:
E01SH392764 090 E103 87A A 02 3800 79 4000 830034 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again. |
Hi Law, you will want to pick up a Ford Shop manual for '63. You can find them on e-bay for $20 ish. Most of your codes will be explained in the front....my '66 manual doesn't have the letters I need (no "S" engine for example--I am guessing that goes to a 144 cu in engine. Also, I show axle code 02 as the small 7 1/4" rear end 4 to 1 ratio). You may have something unique there, that multiple digit DSO code is related to the order that was received from the US Air Force, probably. It could have some unique combinations.
If you do not get someone coming on shortly, I found another forum over on Yahoo called 'econosrus' and there are some really dedicated econo chaps there. John |
Thanks John, I appreciate all of your help.
