removing door panel on a 2003 f150
 

i need to remove the door panel on my 2003 f150.
i have a problem with my speaker.

is there a trick to removing this panel?

The panels lift up after you remove the bolt holding the door handle on.

1) Remove the upper trim panel on the rear of the door adjacent to the window. This trim panel has 2 clips on it, and it simply snaps off.
2) Remove the trim plate around the door handle. It also just snaps off.
3) Remove the window/mirror control switch panel from the door. This panel also snaps off, but it has a plastic tab on the rear, so begin by carefully lifting the front (narrow) part of the switch panel, and once disengaged, slide the panel towards the front of the door to clear the tab.
4) Now, remove the cables from the switch panel, and don't worry, they can only be re-installed one way.
5) OK, you should see two phillips head screws. One is under the upper trim panel you removed in step#1, the other is under the door handle trim plate removed in step #2. Remove these two screws.
6) Now, release the panel by moving it slightly outward to clear the door handle, then pull upward. DO NOT try to pry the panel off, you will break the plastic mounting tabs molded into the rear of the panel. Also, pay attention to the door lock at the top rear of the door panel as you remove. The door lock remains in place as the panel is lifted to be removed.
7) Installation is the reverse of removal.
Note: If you have manual windows (is there such a thing anymore?), then the window regulator handle will need to be removed, usually on a Ford there is a screw in the center under the plastic housing which snaps off and is moved to the side for clearance.

You should have no problem, actually it's the easiest panel I've ever removed!
