The J means those are marine heads (jarheads, sorry couldn't help it :) ). They were also used on industrial 427's. Have the specs at work but am on vacation for the next 2 weeks. Don't want to go by memory 'cause it's been sucking lately and don't want to lead you astray.

Hey, I just wanted everyone to know I meant no disrespect to the men and women who are away from friends, family and loved ones this holiday season in order to serve our country while putting their lives at risk.

I highly doubt any offense will be taken. Never hurts to cover your 6 though.

Thanks, Barry.
I reckon I'll have to wait(unless you get to feeling you should go back to work:-X15 )
By the way--it doesn't take much to lead me astray! For instance--back in the mid 70's when I was circle trackin,I sold all my 427 tunnel ports, medium risers, etc to go with the easier to find and cheaper chebby big blocks and then small blocks:'( .
Later,
Greg

Wow Greg, welcome back from the dark side!

Well I felt good enough to stop in at work today after a few days with the flu.

Here's what I have on C7JE heads. They are a lowriser style, almost identical to the C6AE-R heads except the exhaust valves have rotators, the two-piece retainers. Chambers are the old D shape 71-74cc, 2.03 intakes and 1.56 exhausts. Exhaust ports are the early style high exits, there is an anti-reversion lip on the top that can be ground out. These heads were standard on Cris-Craft 300 horse 427 engines. It's suppose to be a good flowing head, does it look like it was in salt water?

Thank you for the info.
I haven't seen the engine yet.
It belongs to a friend.
Thanks again.
