Stacks on a Gasser
Anyone done/seen this? I remember the old Mopar pickups that had them from the factory. They were step sides I believe. I also saw them on an ONDEMAND episode with Tred Barta. He had them on an old old v6 F-150.

My buddy has some on his 98 chevy 1500. They are just straight pipes really. Only bad thing is u have to cut a hole in the bed but it can always be welded back on haha.

I must be getting old! Now V6's in ford trucks are "old, old"
:-X15 |
haha ya im glad i don't know what a v6 in a Ford truck is like
|
I havent seen it done on a F150 i would do it look awesome sound sweet
|
I've seen a couple new F-150's with them... I think it's ugly as... well family site and all. Now if they had a purpose… like forging rivers and all then I’d be ok with it.
|
I have seen it a few times on new and old trucks. I liked the way it looked but it was definetly for show and served no practical purpose.
I guess it would help in deep water but I always thought if the exhaust pipe was under water it was no big deal and there was a key part in the engine that needed to stay dry |
believe it or not stacks add 12-35 hp on certain trucks
|
well mike...you are right I will take back what I said about stacks serving no practical purpose, but cant you get as much of a gain in HP by letting them hang underneath the bumper the regular way
|
Thanks for all the replies. I was hoping for atleast a 40hp jump though. I guess I will tell my exaust guy to stop bending the pipes.:-missingt

oh ya i mean if u get 4" straight pipes i imagine u can get around the same horses and torque than a 4" stack, stacks look pretty cool too, plus there loud:) |
I actually thought about doing stacks on my '00 F-150, but opted not too. I don't think it would have looked good on my truck. Now if you get a late '90s Dodge 3500 dually, then it'd look nice. But not on my F-150.

Stacks are usually used on Diesel Pickups by owners trying to imitate Semi Trucks.
