any cb radio /ham radio users in ny ??
oh well i havent posted in a while and i got an email saying there was new info on the g2g thread but it turned out to be ronin asking for input that i have none to contribute at the moment...
in any case i have been using my cb a lot more lately and since i am here and i know there are probably new members here on the forum whom i dont know ... just wondering if anyone around ny owns/uses a cb radio or even a ham radio?? if so what is youre regular cb channel in youre area...ir freq on the ham radio band??? and what is youre handle/call sign... im strangely enough known as "smallfry" on the cb bands and the locals around me bounce between ch8...,16...,33 all on am ....and as far as ham radio i dont have one yet but i am considering going for my ham license at some point in the future |
I had an handheld CB that I use to have in whatever vehicle I was traveling in and normally left it on 19 just to hear what was going on. Most of the time when we were wheeling everyone would use channel 4 for some reason. The handheld is busted so I haven't used a CB in a couple of years, but I was just given a CB by a friend that I will throw in the wheeling rig whenever I get another one.

We use channel 4 for the local heep club I'm in. I can't say I use mine much. Just during club rides. It's hard to hear it over the v-8. :-headbang

Now I don't know much about CB's, but I have always wondered why wheeling clubs seem to always use channel 4. Is there a reason? Even when we use two-way radios it is always channel 4 that is used. Anyone know why this is? Just curious.

simplicity darren. frs, cb, 2 cans on a string. 4 is easy to remember. other ch"s are taken by the masses. hell, here in redneck NY, tv ch4 is all King of the Hill, South Park, that 70's show, and a show that tells you how to avoid capture by INS.
Oprah gets up the dial, around ch 15.....more enlightened. unless glruff posts. then this whole thread will be ch 4. |
