Well that is a bit of a loaded question, depends on gear ratio and driving habits. I have a similar truck...short bed w/ 4.30. Around town in good (dry) weather, about 10-11, in the snow about 9-10.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-Feb-02 AT 06:27 PM (EST)]I have a similar truck. I've only got 600 miles on it but my Lariat mileage computer tells me I'm getting 11.4, combined stop and go and highway.

If you look at the other threads about mpg, you will see that there is almost no way to figure it out. It seems that two very similar trucks can get very different mpg. For example, there is one person here who gets 17 mpg with his V-10 in an Exp. I saw someone else say that the best they get in their Exp w/ V-10 is 11 mpg. It is often said here that the way a person drives is the biggest factor, but I'm not sure that is true for big differences in mpg. In my F-350 (see signature), I get only about a 1 - 2 mpg difference between stop and go in town driving and freeway. With the truck listed below, I get between 10 and 12 mpg with summer tires on and between 9 and 11 with studded snow tires. The only time I see the mpg drop below 9 is if a tank of gas has included a lot of towing off road, pasture mostly. Would I have been happy to get one of the (few) trucks like mine that seems to get better mpg? Yes, but I bought this truck because I needed the payload, power and the crew cab. So far, I am very satisfied with the decision.

For the record, I was the one who said his V10 Excursion will get 17.5 highway. My report was however ONLY for the highway. Once up to speed (I set the CC @ 2000rpm) I reset the computer and let it calculate. I don't included stopping for gas or potty breaks. It is only highway cruising. I don't drive sedate or under the speed limit but was trying to get the best MPG I could at the time. I would accellerate down hills and coast up always trying to maintain a fairly consistent average speed and trying not to drop out of OD. My tires were inflated to 60psi all around and I had fresh Mobil 1 inside.

I bank on 13 average all around and usually get it. Although this time a year it is less but only because of the remote start (kids like a warm vehicle) and extended idling (see reason above). I will say that tire pressure seems to be real important. When driving the same way on virtually the same route but with the recommended 45/55psi I only got the best average of 16.7.

I don't care about MPG. It's just fun to see what I can get. It is, after all, a 3 1/2 ton truck! :-X18

I have a 99 f250 cc sb v10 auto w 3.73
We get 11 mpg +/- most of the time on short jumps
and 13 mpg+/- higway w/o towing.
Towing an 8600 lb trailer we get 9-10 hwy.
I sure hope mileage wasn't one of your concerns when buying the truck. You got to have a NEED and a LOVE for heavy running gear, then you'll appreciate the truck.

I get 8 MPG in town and about 11.5 MPG on the road... It's winter in Alaska, so mileage suffers and I have no summer numbers to compare with... Truck has 2,500 miles on it.

I also am very happy with my mileage... If I wanted mileage I would have bought a little skateboard car.

Anywhere from bad to terrible. :-X10

I think you've already been given some good numbers. It really depends on how YOU drive.

I get between 11 and 15 with combination town and highway driving.
But if your really worried about gas milage then a big 250 with a v-10 isn't for you.You have to remeber the size of this truck and that it really wasn't built to get good milage. It was built to look great, and haul big loads with ease.:-X22

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-Feb-02 AT 09:51 PM (EST)]My truck is in my signature. I generally get 12.9 driving around town and a little hwy. When I drive from South Dakota to CA, I get aroung 14+. I have a 4x4,SC,LB. I LOVE my truck! Oo. :-X06 :-tap

Remember too, those of us with the Lariat computer, it gives AVERAGE mileage. So, you are usually doing BETTER than what is says!:-X06

The best mpg I get is when it's parked in the garage:)
However when I'm FORCED to drive it (V10, 3.73, auto, 4x4, LB)
1. 10.8-11.5 city
2. 12.5-14.0 Highway
3. 10.3-11.3 with a loaded slide in camper (see album)

These ain't no Yugo's:-X19

I just purchased a 1997 E-350 Econoline van with 81,000 miles on it. It has a V-10 with 3.73 gears and an auto-overdrive transmission. I have only had it for 3 weeks or so but I am getting 9-10 around town with a lot of stop and go driving. Tom
