Return line cap washers
 

Does anyone know the size? I've got 2 that are leaking and would like to replace the washer's (I'm pretty sure that's all it is) before I buy the whole replacement kit. I'm going to replace them all, but am kind of tight on time for the next week, and would like a good short term fix. I'd be happy with a guess.

I've got a '93 7.3 n/a.

Get the whole kit for 30 some dollars and just replace everything. It takes about an hour to do.

I'd go for the kit too.

Just the o-rings may work, but the caps tend to distort once they get hot and then there's no guarantee that they will hold. Also, if the lines are old, they may start to leak once you disturb them.

That said, you might be able to get just the o-rings at a dealer.

Here is what I did. Too late tonight to go to a dealer, and I have not had good luck at the dealers in town finding stuff for a '93. I need it to be operational tomm. morning if at all possible. I took out the injector and removed the old O'Ring (I said washer in a hurry in 1st post and was wrong). Went to the Depot and found that it is a # 9 O Ring. Bought a box, came home and replaced the 2 injectors that were leaking, took about 10 minutes. There is a 3rd leaking as well, barely, and I'll do that in the AM if I have time. Started it up and ran it up to temp, and no more leaks. Works for me, for now. I'm a little concerned that the O' rings I bought are not up for the temps of the engine and that International has a specific O'ring for it. I'll find that out soon enough. The rubber lines and caps look good, so barring any specifics about the O'rings, I think I just soved my problem for $2. Pretty happy with that.

I'm open to suggestions / ideas / critiques?

ps. I am going to do the whole kit next time I have a day. In fact I'll probably order it tomm. Anyone know of a place in Phoenix that will test injectors? Might as well start replacing the bad while I'm at it.

Just an update, they don't work as well as I'd hoped. Slowed down the leak on a couple, didn't make much of a difference on the 3rd. Still leaking a little, but it should be OK until the new kit gets here next week. Also found a good deal on EBayfor new injectors, so I'm going to do the whole thing at once.

if you are pulling out the injectors you should replace the copper crush washers on them, they come with most return line kits, and i would be a good idea to get them pop tested if they are out
