Welcome to FTE and the South Carolina chapter DesertStorm!
Meanie hasn't been in the mud up here yet, Got to get some new rubber on her, |
I think you have to have rain to have mud. We ain't had much of either lately!
Them Tarheelers may have a drop or two, tho. How about the Green River area? |
went up on some back trails on pinnacle mt. and near old hwy 25 the other nite. Actually had a t-storm up there and a little mud. Also found a few places to put the truck in 4 low. Out till 5am. Very fun.

During the depression there was a popular/not popular song that asked," brother can you spare a dime?" My new version is, "brother can you spare some rain?"

Would it be feasible
Would there be any interest in a 4x4 school/coaching/learn-to-use-it type "school"? I am new to owning a 4x4 with NO, ZERO, NIL, NADA previous experience with it, but would like to become familiar with its use and capabilities.
I know the sports car crowd has teaching/orientation events for noobies, so why not 4x4s!? It could be either that 4x4ers are either considerably experienced by having been around it for years, or the type who want to profile and never intend to leave the pavement. Could an event be coordinated with minimal chance of damaging the equipment? I'm near the Asheville airport, so Greer and Jocassee are close and familiar. |
I'm sure there are a group of guys (and gals) at Gulches that wouldn't mind doing some tutorial off-roading.
|
Thanks Trigger. What is Gulches?

Outstanding! Thanks ever so much

Instead of being tutored in off-roading, do like I did learning to ride dirt bikes. I hit every tree in Croft state park. Some more than once!
I'd go limping into work on Monday and the boss, a very proper Swiss would ask," been riding your dirt bike Mr. Brown?" I had to call him one Sunday and explain that because somebody put a tree stump where my foot was supposed to be I wouldn't be able to go to GA the next week. Didn't go over very well with him. |
Sounds like a good excuse for a gtg at Gulches. I'll watch!

Gulches is fairly rough in places. Definatly need some good m/t tires down there. I know a good offroad/fireroad loop in the upstate that takes you to several places along with a scenic ride down hwy 11 and parts of NC. Mild to moderate trails(depending on rain). Best of all it is free and legal. (Also to Rightside) often going offroad or doing 4x4 activities will take its toll on your paint and undercarriage, if you really want to do some 4x4ing i will let you come with me on an easy trip and show you some tips and tricks but beprepared for some beauty marks on your truck esp. if it is a fullsize.;-)
