4x4 near QC area?

Hey there, everyone. I'm new to the Iowa Chapter of FTE, but have been a member of the forums for a while now.

In the past year or so, I've come across really good deals on my '85 F-150 ($900) and my '89 F-250 ($550). Both are 4x4, the '85 is in good shape body-wise, but the intake and ignition both need to be replaced. The '89 runs extremely well, but the body is really rusty and beat up. My plans are to restore the '85 back to original condition (hammer out a few dents, fix the bubbled rust spots over the rear wheels, and repaint) and keep the '89 as an off-road plaything.

I haven't been able to find any good off-road spots around the Quad Cities area yet, and was wondering if any of you happen to know of a good place that isn't too far away? With the 460 in my '89, travelling far would be kind of expensive. I used to 4-wheel at Lake Stanley Draper (outside Tinker AFB in Oklahoma) a lot in my '72 K-5 Blazer before I sold it, and I really miss off-roading. I'm not looking for anything too nasty, maybe just some old trails in the woods, or a remote area near the river.

I'll definitely have to come out to the next event in Morrison, if for nothing else just to watch. Long Grove is an easy drive from here, straight up 61. I'll have to check that out soon. Thanks!
