Excursion tailgate spare tire rack?

i have no room for a 44 inch tire under or in my truck but would like to put 1 on the back...does anyone offer a tire rack for the rears of an ex?

www.sparetirecarrier.com is the highest quality one I've seen. There are cheaper alternatives for hanging one from your receiver. A Google search will yield a number of results. :)

it does not say that it will hold a 44in tire though.also i tow with my ride so i kind need my hitch.. ive looked on gogogle and cant find anything for a suv just trucks and jeeps

Well it doesn't say it can't hold a 44" tire. I've seen these with some large tires. Exact size I can't say for sure.

You could always email 'em and ask if you are willing to part with $500+ to carry your spare.

You can still tow with the carrier in place, too. Not sure if it creates a tongue weight restriction or not.

I've not seen anything that will work with the existing doors or bumper. There are replacement bumpers that give you a barn-door style carrier. Using the stock fiberglass doors to try and support some of the weight probably isn't a good idea anyway.

ok thanks. im going to call them tomorrow and the 500 bucks is $$ well spent because my tires are a month back ordered and if i get a flat or something happens im screwed!!!

road armor also makes one but you have to get their rear bumper......the holder and the bumper are all one unit.

snurtle why not go with a roof rack for your tire. Also what size lift are you running to fit those 44's. You must at least 12 inches of lift on that bad bot. I would love to see a pic of that setup. I can just picture massive multi resovoir shock sets and linkage set up. Any pics would be great.

Could you imagine trying to get a 200lbs tire off the top of that truck!?

Push it off from the other side and duck when it flies off! Hope to god it doesnt bounce back into the truck! lol

Damn Snurtle. That is one big bad a_ _ truck. What size suspension lift is one there. Also did you raise the body. Now I see why you said in the other post 42's fit. Yeah when your truck is up in God country like that of course 42's fit. Your truck looks great. I would have no idea on what you could do. Maybe go to a fabricator wh could fab you out a hitch that allows for your spare to be carried while towing.

www.crossenterprises.com

I bought a truck from this guy and it had an awesome swing-out tire carrier on it. He makes them for Excursions too.

Another option is:

Aluminum Bumpers - Tire Racks - Off Road Products - Aluminess Products, Inc.

They make a nice bumper and offer great support for what they sell but are not a low price option. In my case they configured the spare carrier for the tire I run then built it so that It could be easily modified to support other tire sizes. There are images of the bumper in my album.
