Lowering a 1970 F-100
Anyone know of a cheap/easy way to slam a '70 f-100 without having to purchase $600 i-beams?
I have a kit to lower the rear end 5" already, SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME. |

Give me your address and I'll come haul it off for you so we can keep old Fords from getting screwed up like that. Then you can by a CHEV-RO-LET, and screw it up to your hearts content.

...actually, yes there is a way. It's major surgery so you'll be down awhile. What you need is the entire front end off a Volare/Aspen. The entire front frame section is a bolt on since it's a unibody. It comes off with 3 or 4 bolts then you lift the body off of it. It's called the K member. Once it's off of the car you've got disk brakes and an adjustable torsion bar front suspension. The entire front end is complete. Then all you have to do is graft it to the front of the truck.

Take out the front coil springs and cut a coil or two off with a angle grinder or somthing and hope it sits leval. I have seen this done, and although it looks cool the ride quality suffers greatly. |

I dont know where you are finding $600 I beams, AIM has the for about 350-400 I believe, it's the better way to lower it, as for trail rider, everyone has their own opinion, he obviously must not want a trail truck, if it's a street only vehicle lowering it becomes a valid option. is raising a truck or potentially damaging it on trails screwing a truck up too? there are always two sides to a discussion like this. and Josef, take your time, save the money and make sure it's done right, trail rider is right that a poorly or cheaply done job WILL screw your truck up, do it right the first time and you'll be happier
