Lower EGTs with Bio?
This may have been covered in another thread somewhere, but I did not see it....
Would it make sense at all to have lower EGTs running bio than what you would otherwise experience running regular #2 diesel? I've been keeping an eye on my pyrometer, and it could be just my perception of lower temps and not reality....... but it seems like I may be running maybe slightly cooler EGTs after 6-8 weeks of running B20 exclusively. Does this sound like its probably just me wishing it were the case, or would it be possible? |
They say biodiesel makes slightly less power than #2. Lower EGT's would seem to confirm it.

Both my trucks run about 100-150 deg lower with B-100 :-D

That doesn't make sense to me. IF it has lower BTU's wouldn't you just burn a little more to make the same power and speed?

IMHO, it's because it's an oxygenated fuel. I think it burns cooler and more completely because of it's oxygen content. BTW..........Love your new avitar! :-D |
I noticed a 100 to 200 deg drop when I started running B100. I can't get it over 800 or so anymore.
