Phone Cards for our troops
glfuff of Delaware chapter organized us FTE members for sending long-distance phone cards for our troops deploying to Afghanistan, Iraq & Kuwait. We're buying the 550-minute cards through the military exchange AAFES/AT&T offer for $27.50 plus 41cents shipping. On the order, I put in the mailing address to George Ruff, PM him for it if you'd like to donate...
(Dover Air Force Base in Delaware is close by and it's the main departure point for our troops that most of us have been through at one time or another.) The thread is "Support our troops" in General Non-Automotive section https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...ml#post4971078 AAFES link, click on the 550 min card for the best bang-for-the-buck deal http://thor.aafes.com/scs/product.aspx The following chart shows the price per minute when calling from Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait to the U.S. using the Military Exchange/AT&T prepaid cards as compared to a well known retailer’s price per minute. .......Other Retailers...AAFES 550 Minute Card...AAFES 300 Minute Card Iraq......55 cents............19 cents..................22.5 cents Afghanistan..55 cents.....19 cents..................22.5 cents Kuwait...55 cents...........19 cents..................22.5 cents FTE-member Troops over there have already mailed back how much they appreciate it, and what it means to get recognition from home. Those countries are hell-holes this time of year and always dangerous. , |
Card update.
The following state chapter members have purchased cards and I have them in hand for a total of 14 so far: Delaware Massachusetts The following state chapter members have indicated that cards are on the way for a total of 11: Northern California Kansas Washington State Internet Brands, our parent company Remember you must order the cards online no later than August 5th or 6th since it takes 4 business days for me to receive the cards. Email or PM me for the ship to address. Thanks to all who have purchased or committed to purchase cards for OUR TROOPS! |
Ordered mine July 26th. I just called AAFES and the cards were mailed from Atlanta on July 27th by parcel post (!) to your address so they should be getting there soon.
I asked why they went parcel post vice the normal First Class mail, since they're just lightweight phone cards, and they replied to save costs to make the calling cards as low-priced as possible.

The following state chapter members have purchased cards or promised to purchase cards for a total of 30 so far: Delaware Massachusetts Kansas Washington State Pennsylvania New Jersey West Virginia IB_Jon, Internet Brands, our parent company Thanks to all who have purchased or committed to purchase cards for OUR TROOPS! :-wink |
Fellow FTE members, thanks to those who supported this effort, we were able to collect almost $1,000 of prepaid phone cards to send to our Troops deployed overseas.
This represented approximately 17,000 minutes the troops can use talking with their family and friends at no personal cost to them. A total of 33 cards were either mailed directly to me or given to me at the show. The picture is of Dominick Dinardo, Civ. USAF(left side) and me, just so you all know I did give them the cards (LOL). Dom is personally going to hand out the cards to troops deploying, representing all services, through the DAFB. They will not be given to troops stationed at Dover. Take your right hand, put it over your left shoulder and pat vigorously. JOB WELL DONE!!!!!!! https://i125.photobucket.com/albums/...aseShow083.jpg |
