Headlight pigtails

Does anyone know where I could purchase a set of heavy duty headlight pigtails? I have the upgraded wiring harness and relays but I had a bad ground and melted one.

I don't have a source, just wondering how sure you are that it was a bad ground. I was looking for a connector for you at rallylights.com and the page said that they have known several stock systems to melt connectors due to the tiny terminals.

I have a half dozen different style bulbs in front of me, including an H13, and they do run about half the size of the next biggest terminal-wise. An aftermarket/hi-po harness would only compound this problem. My sister's truck seems to be doing OK with it...I haven't heard otherwise anyway. Just curious. Thanks

There are two reasons that I thought it might be a ground problem. One being that the only wire terminal that was melted was the ground. The second was that I had the grounds bolted to the radiator core support..........It is composite plastic:-lamesign

I still do not know if I have fixed it......I still have not replaced the bulbs yet.I have a 9to5 job and ride my motorcycle everywhere else.

What do you think I should do?I would love to take it back to the Ford house and have them fix it but I have already cut the factory MELTED plug off and hard wired the aftermarket harness and relays to the truck. It is still under warranty but I have a feeling that they will not touch it under warranty because of my custom work.

If you have any idea what might be the problem I am open to suggestions!!!

I have 14.5 volts going to the bulbs with the truck running (they are getting power straight from the batt.)and all of my connections are tight!

Thanks

On the motorcraft site they do list wiring pigtails for "fixes" and repairs. Iirc, most come with butt-connectors and heatshrink.

Thanks Rich! I am going to check the site out right now.I was just at the rally lights website that Erich informed me about and sure enough the nice little note on top of the bulb selection mentioned about the tiny terminals that H13s have and that is why they build up heat and melt the connector.

I wonder if that is why I keep blowing bulbs?Loose connections do produce heat!

Electrical problems.........I hate em'

Ouch, to anyone else reading this, cutting off the factory harness to hardwire isn't the best way to go.

Which harness did you buy?

How often are you losing bulbs? they will last significantly shorter with the harness upgrade, especially if they are hi-po bulbs.

I kinda had to because the original one had melted beyond use. That is why I cut and spliced an aftermarket harness.I waa running some higher wattage bulbs on my factory wiring and thought the heavier setup was the cure........yea..not the answer.

Gotta pay to play sometimes...good luck with it, hope you get it sorted.
