Door Armrest Lights?

When driving our 2005 EB Expedition at night (my wife usually drives it), I notice that there appear to be no switch lighting present for the window lock/unlock swirtch and the seat position selector--both found on the driver's door armrest. The other window control switches are illimunited when the headlights are on. As I'm getting close to the end of the warranty on this vehicle, I'm curious as to whether or not these switches should be illuminated when the hedlights are on? Of note, I've had to have two of the other door window control switches replaced in the past under warranty as their lights did not function.

Had the same thing on my 03 XLT. driver's door switches were not illuminating. Replaced under warranty. Easy to replace though yourself if you had to.

So all switches should illuminate--correct?

Yes, all drivers side should illuminate.

The only ones that don't are the passenger side and rear, when you turn off their ability to lower the windows with the switch on the drivers side. When it's off, their lights are off.

Mine are doing the same thing in my 03 Expy. Only one is illuminating on the drivers side, both of the passengers side ones work and the sunroof but not the vent switches. How would you go about fixing this issue?

Yea, a good idea, but a poor execution. Somebody is making a killing in selling new switches. No wonder the “American” auto manufactures are in the poor house. We build the best engineered cars and trucks anywhere, but the cheap parts are killing us. I would not mind paying another $500 to get (name your part here) to last 100K miles.

The dealer we bought the 04 EB from is replacing ours. It seems the bulbs are sealed in the switch. The dealer quote that he was not replacing a $54 part for a light being out. But he soon changed his mind when we told him that he would honor the repair because it was pointed out on the test drive, written down on the check sheet, and he said ATT that they would fix the light problem. We mentioned that the states Attorney General would like to hear about this one if he did not repair the lights.
