Flame Exhause Kit ?
 

Hey guys, wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions on my little prolem

What I have is a Hot Licks Exhaust Flame thrower kit, it's installed on a 04 Ford 6.0..... My setup is running propane controlled by a electric air valve and I'm getting good spark and good propane flow. But I can not get it to ignite. I've tried adjusting the amount of propane and even tried it off so there is no chance of the exhaust effecting it. I can light it with a torch and it works good but can't get anything with the spark plugs.

Any thing would help.

i have no idea how to help you, but i know that when you get it fixed you should put some video or pics of that up on here, cuz that sounds freakin sweet!!

Can you try moving the propane injector further behind the spark plug? My guess is your fuel mix is not coming into contact or mixing with the available air to the point it can ignite.

Well it's already welded in so thats a little hard, and I tried mixing air in the exhaust but still no flames. Going to play with it after work.

One of two things are happening, either the spark is being blown out or the propane and oxygen are not reaching the spark in the right mix. You are getting a good mix at the tip.

Well I tried running air threw the system..... but still no go. I tried adjusting the valves on each just to see if I could get it to go. Still will lite with the torch, and man it's cool at 1500rpm or so. Looks like a big torch, but that doesn't do me any good if I can't lite it from the cab. Is there anything else I could use besides a spark plug?. And I can't get the spark plug out any farther or it'll be in plan sight.

I would try it, just to rule it out as a problem.

Try what exactly?

Mounting a spark plug at the end of the exhaust tip.

Damn I Must Say Thats Bad A$$. I Heared Of Run Your Truck A Little Rich And Mounting A Spark Plug In Your Exhust Pipe The Run A Coil To The Spark Plug And Getting It To Shot Flames. Damn I Want To Do That To My Truck. Only One Problem, I Will Have To Move My Exhust Pipes Behind My Tires So I Dont Burn Them Off The Truck.
So What All Did You Have To Do And Use To Have Fire Out Your Pipes

It's a hotlicks flame kit mixed with propane. There kit won't work on a diesel with something "extra" I have a 5 gallon tank that is plumbed into a electric valve. It's wired to a 3 way switch, down=off, middle=ignitor box, third=opens valve for propane. It's best to get the spark as close to the tip as you can, and as for the propane it'll vary on the exhaust. I have to rev mine up and let it fall to light. But it also works at 75 on the highway if I drop it into neutral.
As for that I'm going to redo the exhaust and dump it out the rear. I'm also working on another system for the truck. If it works right I'll have one tank that starts the flame and the second tank will be high pressure propane/air. I want a 15 ft flame :P
