Ok got a few odd and end ?s. Ok first 79 f-150 with a 9" suspension lift. How big of a tire can i run? Basically a show truck no hard offroad use or suspension flex. Second. Ive got a skyjaker lift off a parts truck. cant find any numbers. Anyidea how to figure out how big a lift it is? I know the truck was a 79 f-150 short bed and with this lift and a 3" body lift it fit 40s. Probably a 6". PO didnt install so he didnt know what it was. Thanks guys dave

I would think the 79 would be similar to my Son's 86 f150. We installed a 6" skyjacker lift, and 35" tires, and they fit about right. He did cram a tire into the fender when he wit a deep washout with the wheel turned. If you go 9", I would think that 37's would fit fine, 38.5s - 39.5s would work for a show truck that doesn't leave the pavement, although it may look funny.

I have 6" on my 79, and I can fit 39s if I wouldn't flex it.
You should have no problem fitting 42s, just don't flex it.

Also, id depends on how easily those 40s fit....
If they had room to spare, then the lift is probably a 6", but if there isn't much room at all, it's more than likely a 4".

What type of lift does it have in the back? Blocks? how big?

It had blocks in the back. Ill go measure them now. It had plenty of room with the 40s

ok just went and measured the blocks. One end is 4 1/4" and the other is 4 3/4". Must be angled for redegree of the driveshaft.

Ok, if the truck has a rake(back end higher than front), than it's a 4" lift, but if it seems that the truck is level or even if the bed has a little squat, then it's more than likely a 6".

I ran 36's on my '78 bronco with no lift.. its currently in a million pieces getting some frame work and lifted 4inches.

I dont remember how the truck sat. I stripped it last summer. You have blocks or rear packs on your truck? Im looking into using this lift and i want to replace the rear blocks with spring packs so i need to find out for sure.

Ok i got another clue. It has daystar drop radius arm brackets iunno if thatll help figure it out.

i have 4'" susp 3" body and i can clear 38.5's with flex. I dont get the kind of flex with the 35's i had on it, but it will flex alittle. Just a sugguestion Take the weight off the suspension. mesure the coils. 19-1/8" for 4" and 6" coils are about 21".

Ok the coils are out of the truck ill measure them sometime today
